Materials & Craftsmanship
At Deckers X Lab, our materials and supply chain are a critical part of our journey to corporate sustainability. We are always seeking sustainable alternatives for materials and processes, we strive to source key materials like leather, cotton and wool from suppliers who are certified by third party benchmarking organizations.
Deckers joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2016. With over 9,500 participating companies, the UNGC is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative and joining reinforced our ongoing commitment to conducting business with the utmost respect for universal principles around human rights, labor standards, responsible environmental practices, and anti-corruption This partnership requires an annual statement of progress (our Corporate Responsibility Report) and we believe that sets us apart from many others in our industry.
The UNGC has adopted seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) to guide companies to action. Responsible consumption and production (SDG #12), is one of the three pillars of Deckers X Lab's core values: Designed, Engineered, Built (for a more sustainable planet).
Our library of sustainable materials allows our designers to identify sustainable alternatives. Our Ethical Sourcing, Animal Welfare, Conflict Minerals and restricted substances policies guide our partners to act responsibly when sourcing materials on our behalf.
