Deckers X Lab Supports Frontline Health Workers with Sneaker Donation
At Deckers X Lab, we believe in taking care of our people.
Right now, that means shifting our operations to comply with social distancing protocols, closing our stores, and doing what we can to support our community.
As a California brand, we decided to donate $20,000 worth of comfortable shoes – our specialty – to Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) and a dedicated team of volunteers who began operating drive-thru COVID-19 testing at the Cal-Expo State Fairgrounds in mid-March.
“We are grateful to Deckers x Lab for keeping our medical, emergency management and other volunteer staff comfortably on their feet while we continue COVID-19 operations.”
- Jamie White,
Incident Commander for the Sacramento County Public Health Department Operations Center
The drive-thru COVID-19 testing site offers testing to persons with mild to moderate symptoms, and to asymptomatic healthcare workers and first responders. The testing site has helped reduce strain on clinics and emergency departments.
Community members who receive testing are in a controlled, contained environment (their vehicle) which limits the amount of close contact with healthcare workers and other patients.
Over 14,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 at the site as of June 16, 2020, with about a 4% positivity rate.
